Imilce “The Russian” Barca, a self-proclaimed descendant of General Hannibal Barca, finds herself on the brink of death, bleeding profusely in the back of Black's car. Black Love, renowned detective, rushes her to Deborah Kiss, a skilled medical examiner and Black's former lover, for emergency surgery. As Deborah saves Imilce's life by extracting the bullets, questions swirl about who she is and why someone wants her dead.

Determined to uncover the truth, Black tends to her recovery while grappling with his own suspicions and conflicting emotions.

Before Black can unravel Imilce's identity, their sanctuary is breached by relentless assailants, revealing the severity of her predicament.
